Yuvarlakcay River - saved from a powerplant

The Yuvarlakcay river (round river) thanks its name for the sage that the locals will be more then happy to tell you. In short the day that the river started running again it came as a big round roling water ball!

In 2009 the Yuvarlkacay river has been in danger due a small Power Plant project. Thanks to the local people, who are fully depending on the waters of the Yuvarlakcay river, they have been protesting against this project for 11 Months!

For the moment this ice cold running creek water is save untill th enext "big" investor comes and try to see what he can do!

Meanwhile you can visit the Yuvarlakcay river with the jeep safari, the safari goes to the spring which is the area where the locals have lived for 11 months and has been a home for all people protesting. A special lunch will be served in one of the more hidden restaurants along the river.

The local minibus cooperation is running daily service to the restaurant area more down stream.
