Yuvarlakcay river Mugla

Ice cold water coming from several small sources is greating the Yuvarlakcay. In the area well known for its cooling effect in the summer. Small restaurants are being built a few kilometers down stream where you can eat fresh trout or lamb both prepared in a wood oven.

The Yuvarlakcay river was in danger in 2009 and 2010 due the planning of a Hydro Electric Power plant. Thanks to the strong protests of the villagers (who are depending on the water of the Yuvarlakcay for irrigation water and drinking water) this project has been stopped. Unfortunatly for the many old (read 300 years) Plane trees it was too late.

At the moment new trees are growing and the old plane trees are doing their best to grow again from the roots which stayed in the ground!
